HAVE YOU MET ME YET? I’M HOCO …

I FOLLOW THE H&C GIRLS ALONG OUR DISCOVERY OF THE DESIGN AND DECORATING WORLD. I’M HERE TO REMIND YOU OF THE SHORT-CUTS, QUICK-FIXES, CHEEKY CHEAPIES AND SNEAKY CHEATS THAT YOU CAN USE IN YOUR DESIGN JOURNEY.

Kmart.  The land of the one-stop shop.  A safe-haven where you can line up at the checkout without feeling judged by the dog food bowl, mascara, lego and christmas tree that has somehow ended up in your trolley.

For the design-enthusiast, you’re in luck.  At House & Court we have found the one absolute steal that is sure to elevate your living (or dining) space without the need for a total revamp.

May we introduce the Bar Cart, or as Kmart likes to refer to it - the ‘Drinks Trolley’.  As a designer I tend to find that most drink trollies either A) value function over form i.e. they are the ugly sister, or B) are so stylised in design that they look like a hot mess, even with refined and sophisticated styling.

With it’s rectangularly-curved, powder-coated black frame and tempered glass shelves, the Kmart Drinks Trolley presents us with a minimal aesthetic and sleek lines.  The boldness of the black frame verges on the point of being eye-catching however it’s form with keep from overtaking the rest of your design elements.

Thoughtfully placing the stylish trolley between your favourite armchairs or up against a wall in your dining room gives either space a more mature and elegant purpose with minimal effort.  Our suggestion: style your trolley with some bottles of your favourite Apéritif or Digestif and some carefully placed decor - think votives, vases or decorative bowls. And if alcohol isn’t for you, no problem! Replace the booze with some books or art and your trolley is practically Interior Design approved.
