The past couple of days has seen the first signs of a hot summer on its way. It’s finally that time of year to enjoy endless hot days basking in the sun, frolicking in the waves, and feeling the sand between your toes (don’t forget your sun protection kids).

Its time to de-shed your house of the woolly blankets and gas heaters (as you would your puffer jackets and winter boots), in place for some reviving summer colours.

This season, we’re going back to basics and employing some refreshing tones, think bottle greens and dusty blues… and to balance out the sea tones, hints of mustard, rich tan leathers and raw timbers to create the perfect summer retreat.

Read on to discover ways to refresh your home for the summer season.

If you are an avid lover of these summer colour vibes - think big, think bold.

Replace your kitchen splashback or bathroom floor with a new feature tile or go a step further and select a new kitchen stone benchtop. Remember, it will be a permanent feature (until you change it again), so make sure you’re 100% committed.

A slick of paint.

Still bold, but easier to execute (and replace). We are loving the half-half painted walls at the moment. Or if you are daring, do the whole room.

Take a seat.

A new piece of furniture, such as a lounge or set of dining chairs is a great way to infuse a new colour without full permanency.

Finishing touches.

Smaller items are a great way to achieve a new trend. Grab some new throw cushions, a table lamp, and some nice vases to do the trick.
